Housing Greensboro is but another of the area non profits I'm looking at solely because they receive funding from the City of Greensboro. Their board is plainly stated on their website for all the world to see. They are in the business of helping Greensboro home owners repair and rehab their homes. Non profit corporations like Housing Greensboro are not allowed to inure to the benefit of their members, directors, officers or others except that they may pay reasonable compensation for services rendered. They are also prohibited from carrying on propaganda or working to influence legislation per their articles of incorporation.
Would that same rule not apply to the Greensboro Housing Coalition? Are campaign contributions not a means by which one can work to influence legislation?
Unlike too many others, Housing Greensboro appears to have a clean bill of health so I'm on to the next area non profit.
