I had a lesbian roommate roughly 20 years ago. It was pretty much like being married except that neither one of us was having sex with anyone. You see, any woman either one of us met automatically assumed that the two of us were trying to pull off some kinky threesomes so they quickly got out of our lives. And while I might have gone there at that point in my life there was no way in hell my roommate was going to let that happen.
Then there was that thing of having to compete with one another for feminine attentions.
I bring that story up because some might assume my investigation into the Guilford Green Foundation might have something to do with the sexual preferences of the people they help. Fact is: they're just one more local non profit to look into and that is all. Besides, I don't mind talking about my past.
The Guilford Green Foundation doesn't make their board of directors a secret like some of Greensboro's straighter foundations do. I find it pretty amazing that the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community outs themselves but most of our straighter non profit board members remain closeted.
Considering recent state wide political events one might think that a group like GGF would be likely to be contributing heavily to political candidates on the left but my search turned up nothing, nada, zip, not a penny in political or campaign contributions. I wish other local non profits did just as good a job of operating within the law.
