One thing this investigation has created is questions-- lots of questions. For example: while looking up info on the Jean And Taylor Brooks Foundation I came across Private Foundations in Guilford County, NC. Like wow, who knew there were so many and who knew there was that much money simply lying around in Guilford County and Greensboro? No wonder no one has jobs!
But it did lead me to the Urban Institute's National Center For Charitable Statistics. And more questions like, who is the Anonymous Fund? And how about this list of non profits in the 27401 Zip Code.
Another thing I've noticed is lots of seemingly conflicting information. I don't know what or who to believe. As to who makes up the board of directors of the Jean And Taylor Brooks Foundation.... And the list just keeps getting bigger.
For years and years I've been told to look into Greensboro's non profits to discover who pulls the strings in Greensboro and Guilford County. Now I know why no one else has ever done this. Maybe some folks in Greensboro should get together and form an independent non profit to investigate our local non profits? That would give us tools I don't currently have. I work cheap, you know.
